Tranmere Rovers have completed the signing of attacking midfielder Jordan Davies on a one-year contract. The 27-year-old Welshman arrives at Prenton Park after five years back at Wrexham, where he made 129 league appearances and scored 28 goals.
What does Davies bring to Tranmere?
Davies joins Tranmere as a free agent following his Wrexham exit. He scored twice in Tranmere’s 2-0 friendly win over Blackpool last weekend. Tranmere ended last season 21st in League Two with 41 points from 46 games, trailing Bromley by 46 points.
Why is this signing important?
Davies adds creativity and a proven scoring record to Tranmere’s midfield. He has played in League One and League Two for Brighton & Hove Albion, Grimsby Town and Fleetwood Town, plus top-flight football with Brighton. Tranmere boss Darrell Clarke said: “He’s a player with real quality who can create and score goals, and we’re looking forward to seeing the impact he can make this season.”

Davies has already trained with Tranmere in pre-season and is now fully integrated. Clarke added: “He’s settled in well and knows exactly what’s expected.” Tranmere’s first league game is coming up, with the club targeting a better return than last season’s 10 wins, 11 draws and 25 defeats. Their recent run reads DDLLW, and their last outing was a 1-1 draw at home to Grimsby on May 2, 2026.
Davies said: “I’m buzzing. Tranmere’s been a team that’s been close to me in terms of location for a long time, so I’ve always kept close tabs on the club.”
