Tranmere Rovers have officially signed Burnley youngsters Charlie Veevers and Jack McEvilly on one-year contracts. The duo arrive as the club looks to strengthen ahead of the new League Two season after finishing 21st last term with 41 points from 46 games.
Who are the new signings?
Winger Charlie Veevers, 21, joins after spells with Manchester United and Swansea City’s youth teams before moving to Burnley. He impressed in Tranmere’s recent 3-0 friendly win over Bootle, scoring the third goal. Centre-back Jack McEvilly, 19, arrives with first-team experience from a loan at Clitheroe.

Veevers said: “It feels great. I’m buzzing, very happy to be here. It’s a massive club with a good fanbase, and I can’t wait to get going.” McEvilly added: “I’m delighted to be here. I’m looking forward to the challenge and playing as many minutes as possible.”
Manager Darrell Clarke’s reaction
Clarke praised both players, calling Veevers a “young player with excellent potential” and McEvilly a “real willingness to learn.” He added: “They’ll add strength and competition to the squad as we prepare for the new season.”
Tranmere ended last season with a 1-1 draw against Grimsby and will hope the new signings help improve their form after a recent run of one win, two draws, and two losses in their last five matches.
