Tranmere Rovers have brought back midfielder Ryan Watson on a short-term agreement. The player, who is 33, is back at the club for a third time after spending the pre-season training with the team.
Head coach Darrell Clarke announced the signing. "He's trained with us from the beginning of pre-season and has demonstrated an excellent attitude and good quality as well," Clarke stated. "He is from the area, understands the club, and has earned this chance through his efforts."
Watson initially signed for Tranmere during the 2021-22 season, playing in 22 games. He came back for a short period the following season, playing on six occasions late in the campaign under another temporary deal. His arrival adds to the midfield choices for a team placed 10th in League Two, with nine points from six games so far. Their latest results show one victory, three ties, and one loss from the previous five fixtures.
Clarke suggested the addition aims to increase competition within the squad. The coach thinks Watson's know-how and understanding of the club can offer useful squad depth.
The move follows a 2-0 loss on the road against Gillingham last weekend. Watson is available to play right away.
