Tranmere Rovers released striker Sol Solomon has signed with Southport FC.

What happened?

Solomon, 25, was one of 12 players not offered new terms by Rovers, who finished 21st in England League Two with 41 points from 46 games, ending the season with a recent form of DLWLD.

Their last result was a 1-1 draw against Grimsby on 2026-05-02. Solomon made his name as Jersey Bulls’ record goal scorer before joining Tranmere in 2024.

Why it matters for Tranmere

He scored his first league goal for the club in a 3-1 away defeat to Doncaster Rovers on 21 December 2024. Solomon found opportunities limited at Prenton Park, scoring just once more in 25 appearances for the club.

What comes next?

Southport manager Neil Danns, who worked with Solomon at Tranmere, said Solomon deserves regular appearances. Solomon added he's delighted to join a big club like Southport and is looking forward to meeting the fans. | Stat | Value | | --- | --- | | League Standing | 21st | | Points | 41 | | Recent Form | DLWLD | Solomon is excited to score goals and help the team under manager Neil Danns, with whom he has previously worked at Tranmere.
